Summary

Pendwa is seeking a Content Acquisition Specialist who will be an exceptional addition to our team. As a Content Acquisition Specialist, you will participate in the content acquisition process - tracking and evaluating content opportunities, defining our programming strategy through rigorous analysis of data, operationalizing closed agreements, and providing ongoing deal management. This role demands someone who can blend quantitative output with a strong subjective filter to create actionable insights, dynamic interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively drive change - all at a breakneck pace.

Responsibilities

  • Work with local film and TV show creators in East Africa to bring new content to Pendwa.

  • Support the formulation of content strategy and communicate that strategy internally and externally, using data to drive key business decisions and optimize our content portfolio.

  • Track and evaluate content, both off-Pendwa for potential licensing opportunities and on-Pendwa for performance analysis.

  • Contribute to strategic relationships with content partners and support the negotiation of licensed deals

  • Operationalize deals, managing all aspects of deal close and ongoing deal management.

  • Complete long-term and ad-hoc projects, including competitive analysis, to support the strategy of the licensing movie and TV team and pendwa overall.

Who You Are

  • Fluency in Swahili and English.*

  • You live in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.*

  • You own a mobile phone and a laptop.*

  • You have constant access to the internet.*

  • You are familiar with Zoom for video conferencing.*

  • Experience in and/or passion for movies and TV show content in both 'old' and 'new' media, and an understanding of how the industry is changing and why.

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience at a media company or something similar.

  • Effective communication skills to disseminate information to relevant stakeholders.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and process management.

  • Strong business judgment, and proven strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to thrive in an evolving and fast-paced environment, prioritizing and handling multiple projects concurrently, often with little supervision

  • Finely-honed sense of humor and willingness to participate in lively debates.

Location

We are a fully remote team working from the United States (EST) and Tanzania (EAT). You must be located in Tanzania even if you are working remotely.
